No Nappiness
No nappiness,
no happiness;
want sleep,
want slumber,
want my breathing
cutting lumber;
want my eyes to close;
want dreams,
not reams,
one would do;
but no nap comes
because of you.

I forgot,
on this day,
the 5th in the month of may,
that caffeine laden drinks
i cannot ingest
if i ever want to rest,
sometime,
in the hours following
swallowing.
U2
The thunder claps
at lightnings show,
and rain falls down
in hails tow,
all in all
they’ve got me beat
i really cannot get to sleep.
i toss
i turn
i do not nap,
all the noise
has sapped
my sleepyness away
to hopefully return
another day.
U Three
My son is moving
by my side,
his eyes
are still
open wide;
how he naps
maybe untrue
to the true meaning of nap
to me and you;
truly defined as:
a short sleep,
a quick slumber,
some Zs of a short #.
You IV
I have a neighbour
next to me
who likes to play
Beethoven’s third
extremely loud
for full effect
so now i say
oh heck
with Beethoven filling the room
my hoped for nap is doomed.
Prologue
No nappiness,
no sleep,
no Zs,
no, not any of these;
oh well
at least i tried
to rest myself
i’m putting napping
back on the shelf
until conditions are all just right,
maybe in the middle of the night.

A Cats Meow
As i was lying on my bed,
my pillow underneath my head,
my thoughts in dreams,
my body asleep,
my concious mind was closed for the nite,
until it was awakened with a fright.
My cat it seemed,
had decided,
it’s need to eat,
overided,
my need to sleep,
my need to dream,
all my nightly needs it seemed.
A loud meow right in my ear,
was how its need did appear,
to me in sleep,
which slipped away,
and left me with a beating heart,
and quicken breath,
and a deep desire to bring about its death.
Now do not fret,
all lovers of cats,
no death did come,
to my cat,
though it did get sprayed,
with a little water,
to remind it it never aut-er,
to meow right in someones ear,
when they are at rest,
when they are in slumber,
when they are a member of sleeps number.
